Til hvers að ganga með hundinn ef þú ert með þinn eigin garð

Often, dog owners living in a private house are sincerely perplexed: “Why walk the dog if you have your own yard?” And sometimes they completely refuse to admit that the problems of the dog’s behavior are connected with the lack of walking.

Alas, this myth is unusually tenacious. And many are convinced that it is enough for a dog to run around in the yard, while it is not at all necessary to take it for a walk. Let her say thank you if she is released from the chain or released from the aviary!

However, this misconception comes at a cost to dogs. After all, a dog is still a dog – with all its needs. Including with the need to carry out species-typical behavior – that is, to visit new places, explore the surrounding space, get new experiences and communicate safely with relatives.

The monotonous situation in the yard quickly bothers the dogs, and they begin to suffer from boredom. After all, dogs are intelligent animals, they constantly need food for the mind. And the dogs living in the yard, no matter how big it is, just as necessary to walk outside it, as well as their “apartment” relatives. Otherwise, this dog will be more unhappy than a dog living in the city.

Walking outside the territory entrusted to them allows dogs not only to get new experiences and meet dog friends, but also strengthen contact with the owner.

Another bonus is that dogs that are taken for walks most often do not go to the toilet in their own yard. My own dogs, while spending time in our village house, regularly went for walks, including for hygienic purposes, and never left traces of vital activity in the yard. Although this, of course, is not the only purpose of walking.

Insufficient walks or no walks at all is the cause of a huge number of problems, both psychological and physiological. Do not deprive your four-legged friend of walks!
